Self-Catering Luxury in the Little Karoo
Our private safari-style bush kitchen is fully equipped with:
• Gas stove and oven
• Gas fridge
• Fire pit for traditional South African braais
• WiFi and Solar charging points (phones and laptops only)
We provide salt, pepper, olive oil, sunflower oil, tea, sugar, ground coffee and a French press.
Daily wood and firelighters are included.

Is Tula Retreat completely private?
Yes. We host only one booking at a time. The entire sanctuary is exclusively yours.
How do guests access the retreat?
Access is via private boat transfer across Calitzdorp Dam from Fish Eagle Private Resort, approximately 8km on a gravel road from Calitzdorp town. Detailed directions will be provided upon booking confirmation.
Is the hot tub private?
Yes, the wood-fired hot tub is entirely private for your stay.
Is there WiFi?
There is no WiFi in the Jala Luxury Tent to encourage intentional disconnection. WiFi is available at the kitchen area. Solar charging points are also available here for phones and laptops only. No high-voltage appliances permitted.
How far is Tula Retreat from Cape Town?
Approximately 4–4.5 hours by car.
What is the closest airport to Tula Retreat?
The closest airport to Tula Retreat is George Airport (GRJ), approximately 1 hour 45 minutes’ drive from the retreat in the Little Karoo. Car rental is available at the airport, and the scenic drive to Tula forms part of the experience.
Check in / out times?
Check in is between 2:00pm - 6:00pm (no boat transfers after dark, check out is by 10:00am.
Pet friendly?
Unfortunately Tula is not suitable for pets due to wild animals roaming freely and challenging terrain.
Drinking water?
Drinking water is filtered dam water (recommended to bring bottled water for drinking and ice). A cooler box is available in the tent and on the boat during transfer.

Cancellation Policy
- If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
- If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit.
- If cancelling 21 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit.
- If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 25% of the deposit.
